How to View Email in Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a great tool that includes your messaging, files, and tools all in one place. Its one downfall is that it doesn’t include your Outlook email.

However, there is a great way to integrate your email into Microsoft Teams so that you can have everything in one place!

This is something that I struggled with figuring out. But when I finally did, I was surprised by how easy it was to accomplish and it worked perfectly.

There is no lag, and I haven’t had any complaints or trouble with it. Here is how to set this up on your Microsoft Teams account.

Step 1: Get your Outlook URL

In your browser, open up Outlook and sign in to your account. You will need this URL for your Teams email integration. It’s as simple as this.

Step 2: Add a Website Tab

The next thing you need to do is go into the Microsoft Teams channel where you’d like your Email to appear. A General Channel might be the best option.

From here, you’re going to click the + sign, which is under the Channel title.

Once you’ve clicked the + sign, you will see a box pop up like the one below. Please click on the Website option.

Step 3: Set up your Website Tab

Next, in the pop-up box, you’ll put whatever you’d like the Tab name to be in the first field.

In the second field, please paste the Outlook URL that we copied in step 1.

Lastly, click save.

That’s it!

You’ll now see your email within this new tab that you’ve created in Microsoft Teams. The reason this works is because the Microsoft user name and password that you sign into Teams with are the exact same credentials that you sign into Outlook with. Therefore, you never have to log into your email when you load the tab like you would if you used the browser to access email.

The only downside to this is you are using the web application of Outlook. So if there are features in the Outlook desktop app that you like and are not available on the web app, you will not be able to use these in MS Teams.
